These are some photos from my amazing ten days in Japan with the year eleven class from my school. It's such an utterly different culture. For a few nights we stayed with families from the Kyotonabe Steiner school. It was one of the best experiences of my life.

I haven't been seeing my best friend Stanton enough lately and it will be sad not going to Japan together because we always talked about going. but this is a school trip and i will be back soon so we can get coffee, sleep at eachothers houses and swap clothes.

i am eighteen!

an adult, and all sorts of responsible

me and my friends and family celebrated the day with a brunch and a party

i also recieved lots of lovely gifts from everyone!

such as the typewriter, a daisy necklace, gold earrings, a wing necklace and a hot air balloon card.

the flowers and marzipan ladybird are part of my birthday table that my parents arranged.

there is a French patisserie in Claremont called Cafe Choux that makes really wonderful croissant, baguette, cakes and pies. i went there with Tara and bought some delicious macaroons,
it was well worth the walk in the wind and rain. also these are some new stockings i got on sale, i really love the purple colour.

Gabriel and i went to the premiere of future shorts in Australia at the fly the other day
we had our photo taken by a photographer from six thousand a site created to promote cultural happenings in Perth (there is one for most major cities in Australia)
this is my photo which i didnt think was very flattering
the short films were all very good
some delivered messages of hope and others were made to create awareness of hideous crimes committed against the innocent
but others were simply to amuse such as a short film made by mr. oizo and 'it's just gary' directed by two local film makers of 'this is perth' fame.

mad hat dinner party

on friday night I had a mad hat dinner party and made a borscht and vodka pasta. my lovely sister daisy made a chocolate cake and stanton brought the cute cherry love heart cookies. the last photo is of one of the wonderful sago puddings that mitchell made. everyone brought a little something to contribute and i think we all ate a little too much. afterwards we watched the eurovision song contest. i hope we do it again!

i woke up this morning with a sore tummy, raspy throat and pain in my head. despite the sun shining and me being all rugged up in bed with a new scottish film 'the stone of destiny' i am wishing for summer and good health. the photo above was taken by my friend Cecily when we took a walk down to the beach with Stanton and Eleanor late last year.

finally i was able to purchase my very own copy of Lula issue ten after months of waiting for it to arrive here in sorry little Perth. i went with blueberry muffin but i also loved raspberry tart and strawberry shortcake. i might go back and get myself those as well, just because i can!

flicking through it makes me wish we were heading into warmer weather, rather than the winter months that await. despite the chill my poor toes caught this morning, today was rather warm and sunny at a point and my dreaming of playsuits and short things seemed very reasonable. alas, methinks i will have to remain contented with teaming my shorties with stockings. after all this really isn't so bad, if your tights are pretty and patterned. even plain stockings can look quite something.

last night we had planned to all eat out at a tapas bar and then
dance to gypsy jazz.
unfortunately we arrived at the restaurant only to find they were
full and we needed to have a reservation. so we compromised by
eating cheap food from the food court that we go to most
weekends. (i had an apricot whip)
after Allegra had given her girlfriend Bianca who is
very afraid of spiders a spider in jar, we were off to the gypsy jazz
only to find they were sold out. despite all this i did feel as though
it was a good evening out with my friends.

today Elkanor came over and had tea and we made and talked and
planned crafty things. i worked on some more bows, hopefully i'll
have a fair few to sell at the market next week and to put up at my
new etsy shop as soon as i make that.....

the sky is filled with smoke today i don't know where the fire is

we had a photography excursion in fremantle, sadly i don't think i got

many good shots. i wasn't feeling so great because gabriel kicked a piece of

glass and it hit my leg just above my knee and cut it.

but i forgave him and i feel better now.

i was leaving school early so i walked home from fremantle and on the way i

stopped at the "save the children" op-shop and bought a few more things to

sell at the vintage markets next week.

now i think i might make some bows with the new fabric i got the other week

and make an apple and gingerbread upside down cake before my dad gives

me a driving lesson in our lada niva.

i should work on my film presentation for english as well. i'm studying "the idiot"

an Akira Kurosawa film, it's very long but a well made film based on

Dostoyevky's novel of the same name.

i've had a long break from the blogging world
but my friend starting to blog reminded me how much
i like too.
so here i am
first term back to school was hectic
i've been working like a crazy woman to try and save
up for my trips to japan and europe later this year
i really would love one of these cut north face backpacks
to take with me on the plane

and i've also been saving for clothes as always
these shoes are at the top of my list

i also found some musical options to spend my moneys on
a few weeks back i went to a pixies concert
they are one of my favourite bands and i was not
disappointed

and i went to the fairbridge folk festival in pinjarra
it has an amazing atmosphere and the whole weekend
camping there was so lovely
almost all my friends were there and as someone
remarked it was just like a sleepover and all my
friends were invited
i tried taking some photos there with my grandads old
soviet camera but had much trouble understanding the light
meter so i'm not sure how they'll come out

yesterday me and my friend stanton
paid visits too many many op-shops to
stock up a bit for our flea market stall on sunday
i admit i bought mostly for myself but i did find
many things to sell as well so hopefully tomorrow
will go well and i will make lots of money to buy
christmas gifts with.
this morning gabriel and i took my sister and
her friends to the beach and i visited my
grandparents to decorate our tree for next friday

i went and saw the where the wild things are film with my
family the other night and it was truly lovely
as a child it was one of my most favourite stories

lately not many wild things have been happening to me
because it's all been a build up to my end of year exams
now that they're over it feels like the biggest weight has been
taken from me and i have six weeks of holidays too look forward
to and of course Christmas!

on friday after school i went and saw the new twilight film new moon.
it wasn't as good as the first one i thought but i enjoyed it.
afterwards me and gabriel were babysitting for a family from school.
it's really only one little boy because his brother is usually in bed when
i get there and his sister is older
once he was asleep and we had nothing better to do than watch tv
and drink hot chocolate we put on miss marple and the fifth harry potter

it felt like such a holiday
and now school tomorrow is just this looming big scary shadow
my plan is to make the transition easier by preparing
something nice to take in my lunch

melbourne cup day was this week
horse races i'll admit don't interest me
i think they're cruel

but the hats!
o the possibilities
of course hardly anyone ever gets it right
but it doesn't stop me being interested

i've seen lots of things around in shops with cup theme
shops that wouldn't normally sell such fancy
hats taking their own spin on the fashion of the
races and many women sitting at the pub
looking utterly outrageous
not always in the good sense

that was one fabulous little piece i wish i had taken
a photo too put up
it was this small pile of fake cherries and orange
slices with some netting
it was really great lovely!

Day of the dead

my weekend didn't really go quite as planned
first of all everyone was late for our picnic at the cemetery
except for Tiffany who had to leave early
it was still pleasant though despite the prickly grass and strong
winds

a few people came back too my house afterward and that was lovely
but then i got a call from my boyfriend saying that we probably
wouldn't be able to get into the bar he was playing at

of course i was very disappointed especially as i had already
gotten into my second costume as a doll!
(in case you can't tell i am the birds in the above picture)
i will just have to wear the dress i had for Saturday another time
so as not too waste such a cute outfit

next week my class starts work placement and i am well ready
school is getting a bit much lately homework is piling up
i am looking forward to a break even if it means more
homework so we don't lose to much time while we're away

for the first week i am going to be working at rtr a local radio
station and for the second week at he state library so far it looks
like it's not going to be too stressful with hour long lunch breaks
and ten o'clock starts so i hope i will be able to get in some time
to catch up on sleep, shopping and reading (even if it's homework)

back to school and we are studying the history of drama
i find it quite interesting but sadly all i seem to be able to
concentrate on at the moment is work experience in one
and a half weeks
i am really worrying because i've not organised it all yet
i have been looking at a cake factory and the raffles (hotel,
bar, restaurant) because my plans to work with a fashion
designer fell through i know i'll fix something up
but i can't help panicking.

i've put up some photos that we took at school the other
week for a photography assignment on movement
we may have gotten a little distracted but we also got
some lovely photos
we did lots of jumping for the 'movement and these photos
came up very funny
it was a good lesson

permanent vacation?

i can't believe it's already the second week of my vacation
i have been enjoying myself so much and time has flown
my friend nina from germany got back from up north last week
and so we have been spending a lot of time together
going to the beach for walks, getting ice-cream and yesterday
we went for a day trip to rottnest island
i am looking quite sun kissed which for me is a lovely shade of
lobster. i guess i can expect freckles to start popping up!
other things i have been amusing myself with are bowling, pool
and of course shopping.

i am so happy summer is finally here and i can start going to the
beach and what not
it is nearly festival season!

wow
i just came home yesterday from surveying camp
we stayed on farm where we farmed last year
it is really pretty and there are cows and chickens and ponies
the weather was nice until yesterday when it started to rain a lot more and
lots of wind
i was sad to leave there but i am very happy to be home because
as a surprise my friend nina as well as her brother is staying with us!
today we will go to the moon cafe but tomorrow they travel up north

has been a strange one......
with everyone ill and recovering from camp there
hasn't been much school
it's unsettling the lack of normal routine
my weekend was splendid
on friday night i went to an exhibition opening at the moores building
some of the fabrics were really pretty
and i saw quite a few people i know and a girl tiffany that i haven't seen in ages
she's been on exchange in japan
and we chatted

on saturday i had breakfast with gabriel at a cafe
and i got some film developed and now i've gone and lost the packet with the negs
i'm kicking myself i tell you
i stayed at his house and we watched poirot

this morning i've gone for a walk taken photos
and observed a soccer game while munching on a wagon wheel
and sipping iced coffee

the the last week i have been on school camp
it was lots of fun but also scary
we did absailing rock climbing and caving
and i am not very good with heights
the campsite where we stayed was very beautiful with lots of lovely
trees and possums
one night there was a possum in the kitchen area and
when i went to make tea it just stayed where it was
i got so close i could touch it was so adorable
but after a while it got scared and ran up a tree
on the last day we went to another steiner school and played with some of the children
me and some other girls did skipping games which was fun
after that we took a trip to the chocolate factory and gorged on
free samples. that night we had a fire on the beach and it was pretty
i was very glad to come home after four days without a shower
and the bus ride home was a bit mad as always
everyone gets a bit sick of each other
and some get hungry and sleepy (see everett as above)
but i do miss being with everyone

today i went shopping with stanton, bianca, eleanor and clementine the french exchange student. i bought a pair of white tights with polka dots and bows on them. after we ate donut holes and browsed i came home to a birthday card from my teacher and some gifts fro my grandparents in france. it was a good day even though my feet are sore from walking.

yesterday was my birthday. i was very happy,i was given a nikon fm and i'd wanted a new camera. I also got a lovely vintage coffee pot in the photo above, a cardigan from norway and a handbag and lipstick from my lovely gabriel. because i'd had a picnic on tuesday with all my friends i just stayed at home with my family. we had roast for dinneer and a ukrainian caraway seed cake.

yesterday i went to the city with my friends bianca,jayden,stanton and gabriel.we went and looked at an exhibition, saw a new australian film my year without sex in leederville and played pool at a cafe.The cafe had ridiculously huge yummy cakes, i got honeycomb brulee and it had huge chunks of real honeycomb on top and it was marvelous.

today i have just been at home listening to the magnetic fields firekites and noah and the whale. it's been a mixed up day, when i woke up it was sunny and then it poured with rain by the time i had finished the burrito that i made for breakfast and it was sunny when i ate my granola for lunch. i have also taken a few photos and later i might go and see my friend patrick who lives down the road. Gabriel is coming over tonight and we are going to make curry and watch big love.

i went to ikea to look for things for my brothers birthday (my parents are
re-doing his room) . Gabriel and i got meatballs and chips and i was very silly
and spilled juice everywhere. it was sitting there looking so innocent
i went to shake it only to find the lid was not on it properly.

i had a dress up party and i was a tiger. we had a fire ate lots of

we were playing t ball in our Japanese lesson and one of my
class mates fell and broke his arm. it was rather gory
looking i thought. i think sensei is a bit nervous about
playing t ball with our class again we only play soccer now.

this is me and my kitty kats. an old man who has millions
cats living in his backyard gave him and his brother to my
family. he told us they were girls but after taking them to
the vet we learned they were boys. very sadly they both
recently died in separate incidents a week apart from each
other. i miss them terribly.
